Abbie Bennington DipWSET is a widely respected wine journalist, educator, judge, and tasting specialist with more than 15 years’ experience in the global wine industry. After a successful early career at the BBC’s News at Ten, where she worked as a senior producer across politics and international news, Abbie redirected her expertise toward wine—bringing with her a sharp editorial instinct, a commitment to clarity, and a passion for storytelling through the glass.

She is the current Chair of the Association of Wine Educators, one of the UK’s most established and influential professional bodies. Abbie holds the WSET Diploma and is a certified WSET Educator, known for her dynamic teaching style and her ability to translate complex topics with precision and warmth. She also serves as an Accredited Tutor for Bordeaux (CIVB), a Rioja Educator (Consejo Regulador DOCa), and an Advanced Cava Specialist (DO Cava).

Abbie writes for prominent industry publications and travels extensively to major wine regions, where she conducts interviews, reports on emerging trends, and champions excellence in winemaking. She is the founder of ABV Tastings, a bespoke tasting and education consultancy through which she curates events for private clients, trade professionals, and global brands.
